Journey Together

CULTURE CURRENTS

This portion of the blog is where we will have current culture happenings that are relevant, extremely funny, or important news updates. I will usually add my two cents onto the end.

THINK GREEN - A new study has found that evangelical Christians are more skeptical about global warming than American adults overall and other Christian groups. Just 33 percent of evangelicals see global warming as a "major" problem. --- God is green must be christians aren't - which is odd.

HEALTH - Popcorn Lung - Doctors say Wayne Watson, who ate two bags of microwave popcorn daily for 10 years, could have "popcorn lung" from inhaling the fumes of diacetyl, which gives the food it's buttery taste. --- If smoking causes lungs to turn black what color was this guys lungs? - I hope they don't find out that eating bacon twice a day for 10 years is bad or I am in trouble.

MEDIA - 2,246 is the number of violent, profane or sexual content in 180 hours of TV programming, or one instance every 4.8 min. 20.78 average instances of objectionable content per hour on Fox. --- So if i only watch TV for 4.7 min do I miss all the bad stuff?

POLLS
A recent study shows that Americans are more familiar with the ingredients of a McDonad's Big Mac than with the Ten Commandments. While 80 percent identified "two all beef patties" in the Big Mac, only six out of 10 participants identified "Thou shalt not kill" as one of the commandments. The study was part of the promotional campaign for a new movie, The Ten Commandments ...

Just Weird
After winning the Nathan's Famous Fourth of July hot-dog-eating contest earlier this year, American competitive eating champ Joey Chestnut set a new world record this weekend by consuming 103 Krystal burgers in 8 minutes. His rival, Japanese champion Takeru Kobayashi (the former record-holder), did not participate because of a sore jaw
